In-person or virtual. Speaking to one class or the whole school—sharing with students is one the best parts of this job.
I’m excited to talk about the making of graphic novels, creating characters, and the creative process.
Students pursuing a professional career or in degree programs are some of my favorite humans to meet. I’ve spoken to university classes in Texas and Oklahoma. Publishing, illustration, writing, design, or animation—let’s talk about them. Contact me through this site to get the conversation started.
The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators is a place where I’ve learned so much about the craft. In turn, I would be honored to share with your organization. Let’s roll up our sleeves and have fun inspiring each other! Contact me with your organization’s budget.

Here for it! Let’s nerd out together about the stuff that excites us.
BIOGRAPHY: General
C.S. JENNINGS is the illustrator of over two-dozen books for kids. He’s made books with Penguin Random House, Disney Hyperion, Scholastic, Houghton Mifflin, and Dial Books for Young Readers, among others.
He’s the author/illustrator of Disney Hyperion’s PET SHOP RACERS, a three-volume graphic novel series; the empathy-focused picture book WHOA PANDA!; and has more books on the way. Notably, he illustrated the Texas Library Association Bluebonnet 2020-2021 Master List book, FROM AN IDEA TO DISNEY.
As an animator and assistant animation director, he was part of the teams on two feature films and two seasons of a television show.
He specializes in middle-grade, graphic novels, picture books, character design, and humor in storytelling. His communication with other creatives is upbeat and craft focused, encouraging the experience of the creator and the individual—wherever they find themselves in their journey.
C.S.’s mission as an author is that of humor, heart, and healing—crafting each story with kernels of hope and laughter. A Texas native, he makes his home in Austin with three curious cats and unruly pug named Argento.
BIOGRAPHY: Pet Shop Racers
In Pet Shop Racers, C.S. Jennings plunks his childhood’s pint-sized pets into the vintage racecars and monster trucks he’s always loved. Raised in west Texas, but now living in Austin, C.S.’s career spans children’s publishing (29 books and counting) and animation (two feature-length films and a series). He illustrated the Texas Library Association’s Bluebonnet 2020-2021 Master List book, From an Idea to Disney: How Imagination Built a World of Magic (Clarion). Humor, heart, and healing are his mission as an author and illustrator. He hopes you will find them in these pages.
